"The important thing is to find the right kidney for that recipient."

I am very lucky to have had a chance meeting with wonderful people who are giving the gift of life to their loved ones. These individuals are the most important motivators that help me adore myself in my work. And therefore, I always tried to accomplish my best for the living donors. I have evolved my technique based on what I've learned at Ohio State and adopted a different approach: retroperitoneal access for removing the kidney from donors. This technique helps the donors to be safe because the whole procedure avoids contact with intra-abdominal organs and therefore prevents abdominal complications, and I tried to train the young generations about this beneficial technique for the safety of the donor.

The other important problem was that these donors were motivated only to offer a better life for their loved ones. But sometimes the kidney graft outcome may not be very good due to immunological rejection or a lack of a suitable match. That's why I am motivated to find a solution to improve the outcome after transplantation so that these gifts of life are not going to disappear after a short period of time.

That's why I came up with the program PIN. The important thing is to find the right kidney for that recipient. I have worked on the paired exchange program that offers simultaneous transplant for 2-3-4 couples, which will help to PIN the correct matches. Our exchange program "PIN" will identify the right couples to be matched so that the gifted kidney will have a better HLA match, donor-specific HLA antibodies will not damage the kidneys, and the kidney will be matched to the right HLA typing. PIN also offers a chance for incompatible couples to have a safe transplant by preventing ABO-incompatible or high-sensitization protocol transplants. Fighting against immunology can be challenging and lead to failure. Then we can be smart rather than fight nature so that we can find the right kidney for the right recipient. The "PIN" paired exchange program will help the gift of life last as long as possible. The best I can do to show my gratitude to those people who accept having surgery and give a piece of their lives. Hope I can assist in sharing the right pathway to the living donor kidney transplant couples.
